RHS MARCHING BAND

During spring break, the RHS Panther band traveled to Orlando to perform at Walt Disney World. While on this trip, band members, parents and staff were able to enjoy many activities which included time at Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. One of the major experiences came when the band actually marched and participated in a Disney Performing Arts O Stage performance--the Magic Kingdom March down "Main Street USA". The band students were also able to watch a performance of La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil. We a very proud of these students for representing Russellville High School in such a memorable way. Thank you to all the parents and family members who worked to ensure our students had this experience. (Photos courtesy of Sarah Williams and Ashley Bland Photography.)

BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION

Good evening everyone!!

I want to take this opportunity to officially welcome
everyone to the 2013-2014 school year! With only 3 weeks before the start of
school, preparations to begin the new year are well under way.  If you
haven’t been in the high school lobby, you will be pleasantly surprised at the
changes that have occurred with the remodeling and upgrades.  We are very
excited and grateful to the board for allowing these renovations to
occur.  The middle school classrooms have been freshly painted and
teachers are already working to make these rooms inviting arenas of learning
for our students.  New lights have also been placed in the high school
gym.  Again, we are thankful for the funding that has allowed for these
things to occur.

The first day of school for students is August 6th
The board voted back in the spring to modify the time schedule for the middle
and high school.  School will begin promptly at 8:00 this year instead of
8:15 and dismissal time will be 3:05.  The first bell will ring at 7:55
for students to report their 1stperiod class.  A warning bell
will ring at 7:59 and final bell at 8:00.  Students will be allowed to
enter the building at 7:30.

We will have two open house events this year.  The
first open house is scheduled for August 1stfrom 4-7 and this will
be for students in grades 9-12 only.  The middle school students will have
an open house on August 2ndfrom 4-7.  School pictures for
middle school students will be taken on this date.  Please dress
accordingly—this will help alleviate missing instructional time for this during
the school day.  Unfortunately, we were unable to secure the picture
company for a high school date.  There will be a date in September for
high school students and middle school makeups.

Mrs. Vonlehman and Mrs. Stuart will be sending out schedules
to high school students next week with information about when you can schedule
a time with them if you need to submit a schedule change.  Our goal is to
make sure schedule changes have occurred before school starts.  Middle
school students will be able to pick up schedules during the open house event.
Attached you find supply lists for our middle school students. High school
students will receive specific information about supplies and needed materials
from their individual teachers.

We are super excited about the returning staff members and
new teachers that we have this school year.  One of the most important
roles/tasks of the administrative team is to ensure that we provide the best
educational experiences we can for your students.  One way to do this is
to find, recruit and hire the best teachers possible.  We look forward to
serving you and your child during this upcoming school year.

Thank you,

Kim McDaniel
