RJSHS Band Travels to Disney for Spring Break

Band at Disney

During Spring Break, on Monday, April 2, the Russellville Marching Panther Band took their show on the road.  Band Director, Brian Brown, along with Assistant Band Director, Trevor Cardwell, took 45 students, 4 parent chaperones, and 1 staff member to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  Although the students enjoyed all of the Disney Parks, the highly-decorated Panther Marching Band performed in the parade at Epcot Center.  This was their most memorable park.  Through the Disney Performing Arts program, the Band performed in a parade on the second day while at Epcot, which also included a large pavilion for a miniature marching Band performance.  The students' musical selections included “Birdland”, “American Fantasy”, and “Gonna Fly Now”.  This was also the first time the new marching band uniforms were presented to the public, purchased with a generous grant from the Carpenter Company Foundation.  The band received numerous praises from the guests on their musicianship, appearance, and behavior.  The performance capped off a marching band season that saw the Panthers advance to state as well as earning honors upon honors for individual performances.  The students had a wonderful time providing music and entertainment to the crowds as well as exploring the magical wonders of Disney before they returned home on Friday, April 6.  The Russellville Marching Panthers would like to extend a thank you as well to the community for all of the support they have received during fundraisers which helped to make this trip possible.
