Exciting new school year begins for Russellville Independent Schools!

On Tuesday, 08/02/16, Russellville Junior/Senior High School held their Open House in the gym for grades 6-12, and entertained another large crowd of students and their families in picking up schedules and preparing for their new school year. Many local businesses had set up displays in the lobby and gym: First Southern Bank, Orthopedics Plus, Carpenter Center, Walmart Vision Center, Logan County Gymnastics, Texas Gas Boardwalk Pipeline, Logan County Adult Education, Logan County Health Department, Logan County Library, National Guard, Army, and Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College. On Thursday, 8/3/16, Opening Day for RIS Faculty and Staff was held at Crossroads Church. A lovely breakfast was served by Cindy Holloway, new-to-the-District employees were introduced, and guest speaker, Greg Coker, shared an inspirational insight of “Building Cathedrals” each day! Mr. Coker is the founder of The Cathedral Institute: a full-service leadership development and consulting firm focusing on Empowering People, Building Teams and Transforming Organizations. Then, the anticipated First Day of School began Thursday, 8/4/16! Excitement filled the halls and classrooms of each campus, and the morning went very smoothly largely due to the preparation of our dedicated Faculty and Staff. We look forward to another great school year! We are Panther Proud! Go Big P!
