Weekly Update, August 15th, 2016

Good Sunday afternoon to all!

This week has been declared School Safety Week at Russellville Jr/Sr High School.  You will be receiving a packet in the mail that has an informational letter about what our goals are with this initiative, a parent survey to complete and some information about an anonymous reporting hotline that the school district is now using.  To help us improve in this area, we need your input and feedback.  Please take the opportunity to complete the survey.  Have your student return to his or her AA teacher.  The top 3 AA groups, with the highest amount of participation, will be rewarded! These packets will be mailed tomorrow, so be on the lookout for them! Please return surveys by August 24th

We had a busy and successful full week at RJSHS.  We held our annual Happy School Year party on Friday morning and had a record number of students to recognize for the following achievements:

College and Career Readiness

Advanced Placement Scholars

Advanced Placement Assessments

Perfect Attendance

4.0 Scholars

We also had great performances by the RMS and RHS Cheer Squads and some awesome faculty entertainment during our lip sync battles.  The Russellville Renaissance Team is currently taking applications for new students who want to join our movement and improve the climate and culture of our school.  We will be hosting a fall rally on the Friday before fall break to recognize students who have earned Renaissance status for their grades, attendance and behavior.

On Friday evening, the RMS/RHS Cheer Squads hosted our Meet the Panthers night which honored our middle school and high school fall sports programs.  A huge thanks to our parents, students, fan and coaches who came out to support our student athletes.

On Friday, August 19th, the Russellville Panther Football Team will host the Trigg Co Wildcats for our season opener.  This will also begin our annual Linton-Wren Kickoff Classic to honor Class of 1950 Maurice “Buddy” Linton  and Class of 1952 Howard Wren.  In addition to these recognitions, we will also be honoring our 1966 Football Team during half-time.  Come out to support our Panthers and help us honor several outstanding gentlemen from years past!
