ACT Incentive Program March Madness Party

ACT Incentive Program March Madness Party

Members of the RJSHS Junior Class were treated to their “March Madness” ACT incentive celebration in the high school gym from 10-3 on Thursday and Friday, March 17 & 18. During this time, students were provided invitations to the event based on the number of their earned hours during the promotion of the ACT prep plan. Students earned hours toward this event through good faith efforts, goal-setting, participating in extra study sessions provided, and other ways. They were given an “entry-time card" and treated to grilled burgers and hot dogs. They also had opportunity to receive donations that were given away hourly during the party such as 100 slushies from Sonic and numerous gift cards from community businesses. This article will give us a chance to give a “cool shout out” to the businesses that donated gift cards for our hourly raffle! Thanks to the following sponsors: Wal-Mart, Slappy'z, Arby's, Ski Daddy's, Sonic, and Dairy Queen. Each of these businesses donated gift cards for a drawing every hour! Seniors who are College and/or Career Ready also received an invitation. Thursday was COLLEGE READY and Friday was CAREER READY. Principal, Kim McDaniel, stated this event was one of the highlights of our C2G (Commit to Graduate) Program and is unlike anything I have ever heard of as an incentive for testing. Considering it uses the March Madness theme, I think it may go over well here in the Commonwealth. Thanks to Mr. Brandon Blake, Jessie Baker, and Rex Booth for their efforts to ensure that the incentive celebration was a big hit for our students! Now we are waiting anxiously for our ACT score report.
