Emilie Gill visits, RHS, 5/17/19

Emilie Gill

On the final Friday of the school year, an alumnus of Russellville High School returned to where it all started to show the RHS staff her self-illustrated/written book called “The Murmuring”.  The pages are full of color, animals, and adventurous children.  Mrs. Tanya Mullen practically jumped into her arms when they saw each other.  “Emilie was one of my first students!”  She was delighted to see Emilie again after her wide success.  It’s exactly how every RHS staff member acted when they saw her.  None of them were surprised by how much Emilie’s has been able to achieve in such a short amount of time.  Emilie Gill is a traveler, piano performer, illustrator, and author.  She is a young woman of many talents and has already made her mark in the book industry.  She attended the Mahurin Honors College at Western Kentucky University and double majored in art history and studio art with a minor in geography.  The entire college witnessed her talent when she won a holiday card design contest.  Visual storytelling is something she loved in high school and learned is a universal language.  She has accomplished her goals with the creation of her new illustrated book.  Its creation comes along with her hopes that people are inspired by the pages of wonder and possibility.  The way Emilie has been inspired through her travels which involves meeting artist in New Zealand who were involved with “The Lord of the Rings” and studying at Massey University there in Wellington.  Emilie’s life is a mixture of realism and wonder, and it’s one the reasons why she’s such an excellent artist.  She has proven herself to have an exceptional talent with a large belt of scholarships and famed work.  She is an example of what Russellville Independent Schools strives to see more of in the future.  It’s always amazing to see past students return and share what all they’ve accomplished since they graduated.  We are very proud that Ms. Emilie Gill visited, and we know that she’s going to accomplish even greater things on her journey at the Cambridge School of Arts in England.
