RHS has it's 1st Annual Senior Walk!

RHS has it's 1st Annual Senior Walk!

A new tradition started this year for the 2015 RHS Graduating Class.  Principal, Kim McDaniel, had a grand idea to not only honor the Senior Graduates, but also to instill in the young hearts of the Middle School and Stevenson Elementary Students a glimpse of what their future will hold.  Seniors lined the RJSHS lobby waiting for the "Senior Walk" to begin.  They paraded down the halls of the High School and on over to the Middle School among high-fives, hand clasping, and hugs of congratulations!  Then they loaded the buses, along with a Police escort, and traveled to Stevenson Elementary. The students and staff there waited anxiously for those buses to arrive. As the Seniors entered the hallways they saw smiling faces of former teachers and students holding posters, clapping, and cheering, "we are proud of you; we are proud of you, SENIORS!"  The Seniors had previously been given the opportunity to write notes to some of their former teachers, and tears were evident as some of those teachers received those notes and hugs. It was a special time of pride and reflection. The finale was in the library as they gathered around (some in "crisscross applesauce") as librarian, Ms. Sherry Bouldin, read aloud Dr. Seuss' book, "Oh the Places You Will Go!" There were moments when Ms. Bouldin became so emotional, she had to hand the book over to a former student to finish reading the page, and there was hardly a "dry-eye" in the room.  Many posters had been hung in the hallways, one of which was definitely fitting, stating, "It's All About Those Seniors".  It's quite certain this will become an ongoing tradition!  Congratulations to our Class of 2015!
