Panther Basketball excitement!

Regional Champions

Congratulations to our RHS Panther Basketball team on winning the Region 4 Championship against Monroe County. The Panthers beat Clinton, Monroe, and Todd County teams to earn the Regional title and will now advance to the Class A State Tournament that began on Thursday, 1/26/17, in Frankfort.  Coach Calvin Head shares information about the tournament: First of all, I would like to congratulate Coach Todd, his staff, and our team on getting to the Class A State Tournament. This is a wonderful opportunity for our athletes to take part! I want to update everyone on next week's schedule. Friday, January 27, G/B double header at Logan County has been re-scheduled for Monday, January 30. Class A Information: Russellville played East Ridge at 9:00am (CST) Thursday, 1/26/17, at the Frankfort Convention Center and won 63-52! They advance to play Mayfield at 4pm (CST) on Friday, 1/27/17. To allow Panther fans plenty of time to travel to attend Friday’s game, SES will be dismissed at 11;30am, and RJSHS will dismiss at noon. The RJSHS Panther Basketball team, accompanied by our RJSHS Cheerleaders, and coaches traveled to Frankfort on Wednesday, 1/25/17, for the competition in the Class A All-State Basketball Tournament. The Panthers easily handled their first two opponents, East Ridge and Mayfield, to earn a spot in the state semifinals before falling in overtime to Newport Catholic. Pedro Bradshaw and Jacob Naylor were chosen as all-tournament team members and recognized at the end of Saturday’s game. A huge thanks to our coaches, panthers, and our cheerleaders who did an amazing job during their competition. Also, thanks to all our students and Panther fans who traveled to cheer on our team! We remain Panther Proud!
