A true wave of community, 3/27/20!
On Friday, March 27, Stevenson Elementary and Russellville Primary Academy joined together in a city wide “wave parade”.  RISD School Resource Officer, Randy Hargus, led the parade and provided the routes for the eager administrators and staff in the wave parade. “Today we got an opportunity to share smiles with our students. This Wave parade gave me hope and joy, something that I have not had in the past two weeks. My heart was overflowing with joy. Our students’, families’, and elderly smiles let me know that everything is going to be fine. I would not trade anything for what I received today from my families and students. I have an outstanding staff that was ‘all in’ for this parade. I am proud to be part of the Russellville Independent School District,” said Robin Cornelius, Stevenson Elementary School Principal.  Students and their families lined the streets of Russellville waving and holding signs they made to share with their teachers!  Bystanders were stopped in the road to wave back, a true wave of community was evident this day!  “My heart is beyond full after participating in the wave parade today. Seeing the Russellville community standing on their porches or in their windows will be forever ingrained in my mind. I had tears of pure hope and joy streaming down my face as I watched kids' faces light up when they saw us or heard shouts of praise from parents and grandparents. I believe we are all a bit happier after seeing one another again,” said Michele McCloughan, District Preschool Coordinator.  This was such an uplifting event that was special to the RPA & SES staff and students alike!  We are all in this together!
