Dr. Seuss Read-to-me event, 3/6/20
On Friday, March 6, the students at Russellville Preschool Academy and Stevenson Elementary participated in a book character parade to celebrate Dr. Seuss week. Students as well as teachers participated and there were smiles and lots of laughter echoing in the gym at Stevenson. This was not the only fun event today in store for the students, today was also Community Readers Day. Our staff, students, and community came together and read in all of our classrooms! Russellville High School students and members from the community traveled to the schools to attend the Book Club/Read-to-me event. The following RHS Book Club students attending with their teacher/sponsor, Jesse Nugent, were: 12th Graders - Amariah Christie, Cecily Christie, Allison Tatum, and Joci Morris; 11th Grader - Diedre Hestser; 10th Graders - Colin Siletchnik, May Ouansombath, Krystlyn Underwood, Deja Davis, Ginger Ramsey, and Maelynna Sharp; 9th Graders - Rosie Hardimon, Yvette Wynn, Taleya Tooles, and Jasonia Stovall. We also had readers from local churches, district staff, parents, fire, and police departments. Some of those community readers were: Muryd Scipio, Travez Hampton, Seth Whittaker, Christina Dowlen, Mindy Key, Annie Hampton, Bart Flener, Mikie Benton, Officer McCoy, and Jae Allison. "This is such a wonderful partnership, and we enjoy everyone rallying around a good storybook," said Mindy Key, Outreach Coordinator. Gratitude is extended to the community of Russellville and our staff for making this a wonderful week celebrating Dr. Seuss.
