Happy November to all, 

First, I want to express that I am  thankful to serve a supportive and involved parent community here at RMS. We have many events and happenings this week, please read the below newsletter to find what's going on at RMS


In the Classroom (Academics)

November 4-7th will be our STAR progress monitoring week, STAR is a standards-based, -adaptive assessment that measure students' reading comprehension and math skills, monitors achievement and growth, and track understanding of focus skills aligned to  state-specific learning standards. We at RMS use STAR data to best serve our students individual needs whether its an intervention or enrichment

 Last week,Mrs. Holtgraver's 7th grade math class learned about area & circumference by competing in battleship!


In the Halls (Campus Life)

Library: Last week the RVK library had its inaugural Mystery Boo-ography contest. Students had to solve clues within the library to win a FREE Book!! 

 

 

 

RMS wears orange to stand against bullying for bullying prevention month on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019

RMS is in the Halloween spirit, students and 

adult team members had fun dressing up 

in costumes on October 31st, 2019.



On the court (Athletics)

Last week On the court, our boys JV team defeated Franklin Simpson on the road. Our 8th-grade boys teams played hard, however, they suffered a loss. 

In Girls basketball action our JV & Varsity team had their season opener vs. Franklin Simpson. Although our girls played hard we came up short.

It's Getting Cold! No Child Should Be Cold! With the temperatures dropping it's getting to be the season for warm clothing. No child should be without warm clothes for the Winter and the RHS and RMS Family Resource Center is here to make sure that doesn't happen. If you have a child or know of a child in need of warm clothing such as long pants, long sleeve shirts, jackets, or footwear, please do not hesitate to contact RJSHS FRYSC Coordinator Debbie Browder by email at Debbie.Browder@russellville.kyschools.us or you may call her at (270) 726-4799 

No School Tuesday, 11/5 

Tuesday 11/5 is Election Day. There is no school that day. There IS school on Monday 11/4 and Wednesday 11/6. 



At Home (Parent Engagement)

At RMS, all teachers place their Lesson Plans for the week online. This allows you to see exactly what is happening in their classes each day. You may access these plans online by following the following steps:

  • Go to the RMS Website

  • Click on the Staff Directory Tab 

  • Click on "Search" to get a full list of all RMS Faculty

  • Find your child's teacher's name

  • On the FAR RIGHT of the screen, click on "VIEW MORE" for that teacher

  • Click on the section, "See what we are doing this week in class,



Important Upcoming Dates for RHS

CLICK HERE for a list of important upcoming dates for RMS. Take note during the 2nd quarter important dates on 11/11 Veterans day we invite all veterans to our 2:15 pm program in DeGraffenreid auditorium & 12/12 RMS Family Holiday Meal - Plan on bringing the family and enjoy lunch with us! I have attached a pdf copy of this for those not using Google Docs.
