Matthew Williams, Student Intern with RISD Community Education
Matthew WilliamsRussellville Independent Schools Community Education Director, Penni Nugent, is excited to announce that a new Student Intern will be working with her over the District’s Public Relations.  RJSHS Senior, Matthew Williams, began his Internship at the Board of Education on Aug. 16, and is ecstatic to be involved in his community while pursuing his literary aspirations.  He’s published three articles in the span of two weeks and is on a roll to developing into a fine young journalist.  Before the 2018 school year ended, Superintendent, Bart Flener, pledged to prepare as many Seniors for what they’d like to pursue after college through Internships.

Williams’ love for literacy began in the first grade and grew to the point that he was inspired to write his own fictional novels.  Since then, Williams has dreamed of becoming a professional writer and journalist.  He currently publishes a weekly article on WKU’s Odyssey platform and is in the process of writing his first Young Adults fantasy series (teenage supernatural or paranormal stories/books).  His plans for after graduation involve relocating to New York to attend college while actively pursuing numerous careers in the literary field:  creative writing, journalism, screenwriting, and other jobs that interest him such as archeology and drama.

He’s beyond grateful for the people who have worked to give him this opportunity and already feels at home with the staff at the Central Office.  Matthew looks forward to the knowledge and experience he’ll gain through his internship and is excited for his road ahead with Penni Nugent at Russellville Independent Schools!
