2018-19 Volunteer Information

August 29, 2018

At Russellville Independent Schools, students and their safety are always our first priority. In light of that, we are revamping the District’s volunteer guidelines and introducing changes to the volunteer handbook.  As a result, the District will institute new training requirements for all volunteers who have served prior to the beginning of this school year and those who wish to volunteer with us in the future.  We are seeking volunteers who want to make a difference in our school system and welcome those folks who, after passing the background checks, including the new Child Abuse & Neglect  (CAN) check instituted at the federal level, and after completing our volunteer training, wish to volunteer in our schools.  However, the District reserves the right to establish what the volunteer service will be in conjunction with our school administrators and the volunteer.  Additionally, we are incorporating a “Plus One” procedure to ensure that a volunteer will not work directly with a single student or group of students unless a district or school employee is present in a supervisory capacity.  “Plus One” is being incorporated for the safety of our students as well as to protect our volunteers.
On behalf of our students, thank you for your willingness to volunteer and for your understanding as we continually work to protect our students on a daily basis.  If you wish to volunteer with the Russellville Independent School District, please contact Penni Nugent at (270) 726-8405 or contact her by email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Bart Flener
