SES hosts Illustrator, Floyd Cooper, 3/8/19
Illustrator, Floyd Cooper On March 8, NAACP award-winning Illustrator, Floyd Cooper, visited every grade level at Stevenson Elementary School. He presented in the gym and held workshops in the cafeteria. Mr. Cooper called students to join him, introduce themselves, and scribble on a large sheet of paper. He would then transform their scribbles into a picture. Other students would raise their hands and shout out what they thought he drew. The children practically roared with excitement during the presentation. Sometime after, the students traveled to the cafeteria and sat at a table with paper, chalk, and erasers. The illustrator talked the children through techniques on how to draw with an eraser. Each student had the liberty to free-draw after making their robot drawing. All the students enjoyed his activities, and it was a perfect way to end the Friday morning!
