See you at the Pole, 9/26/18
See You At the Pole
See You at the Pole, an International day of student prayer, was held at 7.40 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Students were encouraged to circle around the Flagpole outside the Russellville High School entrance and unite in prayer to uplift their school, parents, family, friends, and the world. Approximately 40 gathered despite the dreary weather conditions. The spiritual movement began in 1990, with ten students that were led by God to inspire millions of young people. They shared their vision with other youth leaders and eventually schools began orchestrating prayer meetings. It started in Texas and within months, dozens of thousands of students practiced the same challenge in numerous states across the US. On September 11, 1991, approximately one million students joined for prayer at school flagpoles around the country. They gave worship to God in the form of singing, by reading scriptures, and by praying for all His creations. Since then, the challenge caught widespread attention and was adopted into foreign countries such as Japan, Canada, Korea, etc. More than 3 million students around the world participate in the prayer rally every year. It wouldn’t have been created if young people didn’t have faith in God or in each other. When students show initiative, there’s nothing that can stop them, and this counts in every part of their lives. Even if you’re not a spiritual person, it’s still awesome to witness the love that is shared between the students during the “See You at the Pole” day of prayer. It’s one day of the school year when diversities are set aside, and students come together for a positive cause. If you’re a part of the Panther community, it means you’re obligated to watch after one another and on that Wednesday, the students at Russellville Jr/Sr High School were surely reminded of that important obligation!
