Weekly Update, May 4th, 2015

Good Sunday evening to everyone!  I hope you have been able to take advantage of this wonderful weekend weather we have experienced.

Members of the RHS Tennis team participated in the regional matches held at BGHS yesterday.  Sam Cosner and Sam Cundiff had an early match with Travis McDaniel, Cameron Tisdale and Will Oakley playing in their first round matches later in the day.  All three RHS Seniors won their first round matches and advanced to the second round.  The duo of Oakley and Tisdale won their doubles match and will now be playing Monday at 4:00 in the final round at BGHS.  A win tomorrow would put them at the state level for this upcoming weekend.  Congratulations to these students, and Coaches Calvin and Tracy Naylor, on a successful end to the tennis season.

The RHS Baseball team picked up two more wins this past week, with one of those being an important district win over Todd Co. The other win was against UHA from Hopkinsville.  Congratulations to Coach Crabtree, his staff and players on those victories!  We look forward to more of those!! Senior night, honoring Jacob Proctor, Wesley Stratton and Desmon Quarles, will be held this Monday.  Come out to show your support for these young men.

The RHS Drama department, under the direction of Brian Brown, has been working feverishly to prepare for this year’s spring musical, Mary Poppins!! The first performance is scheduled for May 9th at 7:00 PM with additional performances on May 15th and May 16th!  Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students!  Come out and support this talented group of young performers as they present Mary Poppins!

This week is the kick-off our spring testing window for 2015.  Below you will find a specific schedule of the different testing events we have scheduled for our students.  Please make every possible effort to not schedule appointments or do check-outs during this time frame.  If an emergency does arise, please contact the front office staff so that arrangements for makeups can be made immediately.  Also, please take the time to discuss the importance of Good Faith Efforts with your children and how important it is to get a sufficient night’s rest with plenty of nutritional, healthy meals!

*A reminder to students/parents taking end of course assessments for Biology, English II, US History and Algebra II---the EOC for each of these subject areas does count as 20% of your final grade for the course.

*All Advanced Placement exams will be held at the tech center on 7th Street.  Students must have exam fees paid before they will be allowed to take that exam.
