Leader in Me Faculty Meeting
Leader in Me Faculty Meeting

At the SES Faculty meeting on Monday, 03/09/15, Guest Speaker, Nolan Marx, a representative from Franklin Covey, shared information on The Leader in Me. We have applied for a Grant to assist us with becoming a Leader in Me school, and he visited our school to provide us with a detailed description of how this would be beneficial to us. He stressed communicating a person’s worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves. He shared a three-step emphasis to: 1) develop mindset – recognizing I am truly in charge of myself; 2) develop skillset – recognizing skills to be able to lead myself; and 3) develop toolset – recognizing my value system that makes sure I’m being led in the right direction. He also shared 7 Habits of Happy People: 1) Be proactive; 2) Begin with the end in mind; 3) Put first things first; 4) Think “win-win”; 5) Seek first to understand, then talk; 6) Synergize; and 7) Sharpen the saw – better your life. The Leader in Me is a whole-school transformation model that acts like the operating system of a computer—it improves the performance of all other programs. Based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The Leader in Me equips students with the self-confidence and skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century economy. If we are recipients of the grant, we will be informed  in April.
