Good Sunday afternoon to all! Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Panther moms!!

Kentucky Governor’s Scholar Program

We are proud to announce that Russellville High School Junior, Wesley Stratton, has been chose to represent Russellville High School in this year’s Governor’s Scholar Program. The Governor's Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors. The Program originated in 1983 as a result of Kentucky
leaders' concern that the state’s "best and brightest" were leaving
the Commonwealth to pursue educational and career opportunities elsewhere
without fully understanding the potential of their talents at home. Students
who are selected attend the Program without charge. In the spirit of
partnership, the Office of the Governor, the Kentucky State Legislature, and
private enterprise come together to provide the financial support for the
Program (http://gsp.ky.gov/).

The Program’s mission is to enhance Kentucky's
next generation of civic and economic leaders. The first class numbered 230 and
was housed on one college campus. Since then, the Program has enjoyed excellent
support and grown to over 1,000 students on three campuses.

Wesley is the son of Artis and Renee Stratton and is also a
varsity member of the RHS Baseball team.
He is also very active in the RHS Marching Band program. Congratulations to Wesley and his family on this prestigious honor. We are very
proud of his accomplishments at our school!

If you missed the RHS drama production of Willy Wonka this
past weekend, you missed a fabulous opportunity for good entertainment from our
students. Never fear, however, as you have
two more opportunities this week to attend the musical and support this super-talented
group of young students and the staff members who work collaboratively with
them to ensure a successful show. Two
more events are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, with both beginning at 7:00 in
the high school auditorium.

Site-Based Decision Making Council nominations for parent
representatives are being taken through 3:00 Monday afternoon. There are boxes in both offices, middle and
high school, if you would like to leave someone’s name for a nomination. Elections will be held beginning on Tuesday
with both offices containing ballots.
Please stop by the school to either nominate or vote for your parent
representatives.

Senior Week activities begin this week on Tuesday with
multiple activities planned during the Bowling Green outing, the historical
Russellville tour day, and Welcome to the Real World activities on
Thursday. All seniors must complete
their senior week packet forms and have them submitted tomorrow. Please check with your seniors to ensure this
has been completed.

The RMS/RHS Band students will be hosting their annual
spring concert on Tuesday at 7:00. They
will also be hosting a “Notes over Noodles” meal before the spring concert in
the cafeteria. The meal will be served from
5:00-6:30 and will cost $5.00. This includes
spaghetti, salad, dessert and drink. Come
out for a good meal and music during this event.
