Don Firchow, recipient for KHSADA Dr. Rudy J. Ellis "Distinguished Service Award"
Athletic Director, Calvin Head, has stated Russellville Junior/Senior High School will be well represented at the Kentucky High School Athletic Directors’ Association Conference this year! Not only will RJSHS Sophomore, Dillon Porter, be honored for being named to the 2016 All Resilient Team by Tom Leach, but Coach Calvin Head was recently notified by Hugh McReynolds the following: “On behalf of the Kentucky High School Athletic Directors’ Association (KHSADA), it is my privilege to inform you that your nominee, Don Firchow, has been selected as a 2016 recipient for the KHSADA—Dr. Rudy J. Ellis ‘Distinguished Service Award’. The award will be presented at the 2016 KHSADA’s Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 6:30 pm in the PNC Club at Papa John’s Stadium on the University of Louisville campus. The program will begin promptly at 6:30 pm with the meal followed by the awards presentation ceremony.” Superintendent, Leon Smith, stated this is well deserved! Mr. Firchow, affectionately known as “Mr. Panther”, has been a loyal supporter of all aspects of RIS, from attending every athletic event possible to mentoring students on all levels. He is well-loved and respected, and we are grateful for our #1 fan! Congratulations, Mr. Firchow!! We are Panther Proud!!
