Artful Reading Production Day, 12/9/19

Here at Russellville Independent Schools, we are always looking for ways to bring innovation to literacy.  On Monday, Dec. 9, select teachers, participating in Artful Reading, were interviewed and filmed performing "box reveals" which will be published online on the Collaborative for Teaching and Learning website.   Not only are we working to engage students in learning how to read and write, but students are enjoying the "art" in Artful Reading.  Within each Artful Reading box, teachers and students are provided resources that challenge all students in a hands-on approach to be creative while practicing reading and writing.  This is year two of the grant.  In year one, kindergarten, first, second, and fourth grades participated in a year of learning and implementing Artful Reading in the classroom as part of the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy grant.  In year two, we are piloting both preschool and middle school modules for Artful Reading as a part of Russellville Reads 2.0.  We are implementing lessons and providing feedback to the authors.  We are excited to be part of this project.
