Once again, the Russellville Independent School District Bands presented an outstanding performance as they held their annual Christmas Band Concert on Monday, Dec. 16, at the deGraffenried Auditorium. The holiday celebration began this year with music from the Stevenson Elementary Beginning Band consisting of 49 students (SES history’s largest number) under the direction of Director, Mr. Trevor Cardwell. They shared 3 selections: Moving Around, Hot Cross Buns, and Baby Shark. The 6th Grade
Band performed next with selections of Good
King Wenceslas, Jolly Old St.
Nicholas, and The Dreidel Song. The 7th/8th
Grade Band was up next with Jolly Rockin’ Nicholas, and Dance of the Sugar Plum
Fairy. The RHS Jazz Band entertained with renditions of Charlie Brown Christmas and All I Want for Christmas is You. Lastly, we heard lovely selections
from our RHS Concert Band members
under the direction of Band Director, Brian Brown.
They concluded the evening with several holiday favorites, including an amazing
performance of Bugler’s Holiday, The Sussex Mummers Christmas Carol, and Highlights from “Frozen”. The
following students were recognized as having been named to the WKU Honor Band:
