SES Presents for Parents, 12/16/19!

On Monday, Dec. 16, Stevenson Elementary Family Resource Youth Services Center sponsored their “Presents for Parents” program which provided every student the opportunity to “shop” for that special item, “help” to get it wrapped (all free-of-charge), and then take it home to be placed under their tree.  Family Resource Coordinator, Carol Kees, said, “Wow - what a fun day!  I love this job!”  She expressed thanks to all the Related Arts Team for flexibility in scheduling their time to provide this program, and for their leadership in the library during each grade level's visit.  Thanks to Mrs. Betty Woodlee, our most wonderful volunteer, for changing her regular day to help out!  Huge thanks to Amanda Wade, Lynne Hartford, Adam Taylor, Tonya Davenport, Sandy Ramsey, Connie Southerland, MacKenzie DeVary, Becca McElfresh, Kelsey Peavler, and Miranda Stratton for altering their days to help wrap gifts.  Thanks were also expressed to everyone who covered those positions so they could be there to wrap presents.  Mrs. Kees stated she was thankful to those who jumped in and wrapped when they were there with their students.  She knows she cannot name everyone, and she apologizes for that, but she knows she saw Tina Olson at a wrapping table.  Gratitude is expressed to everyone who donated gifts so that each and every child had a choice of something they would be proud to give to their loved one, with the last class having as many choices as the first.  Many of the items are donated from teachers, staff, and the community.  Thanks to SES Principal, Mrs. Robin Cornelius, for scheduling all the wrappers in order to “pull this off in one day” and especially for agreeing to work things out so Debbie Elliott could spend the day in the library doing what she did to make the program a success.  Last, but not least, a very special, “thank you”, to Ms. Elliott who volunteered her Saturday to come in and help make sure this day was special for each and every student.  Debbie Elliott has been responsible for this program each year since she's been with SES:  organizing volunteers and stocking the tables.  Carol Kees said, “I knew I couldn't pull it off without her - she is pretty terrific!”  Stevenson Elementary is quite the “Team” that continues to want the best for their students and making sure they have a Merry Christmas!
