Little Free Library is now open!

On Sept. 1, on West 9th Street a Little Free Library was strategically placed by Mr. Robbie McLellan, RHS teacher.  What is a Little Free Library?  It is a library that is available to anyone who happens to pass by.  They can take a book and either return it after they’re finished reading or bring a different book back in its place.  “Little Free Library” is a non-profit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world."  Studies have shown that children who grow up without books are automatically three years behind their classmates by the time they get into school.  This organization is trying to better educate children across the world by providing 24/7 access to books in areas where they are scarce.  They have over 90,000 libraries in over 90 different countries with millions of books exchanged throughout all of them.  We R grateful to Ms. Bethani Hargett-Slack, Mrs. Sara Jennings, and Mrs. Mindy Key, Outreach Coordinator with Russellville READ’s, for seeing this project to completion. Make sure to check out this Little Library whenever you're on 9th street!
