RISD Opening Day, 8/6/18
Monday, Aug. 6, was the Opening Day for
Russellville Independent Schools! Teachers, Staff, Administration, and Board Members gathered together at
RJSHS to share a delicious breakfast, then proceeded to the deGraffenried to
hear opening remarks from Superintendent, Bart Flener. Russellville Mayor, Mark Stratton, introduced
Russellville Chief of Police, Victor Shifflett, and newly appointed RISD
Resource Office, Ryan Brown. He also
offered encouraging words of “don’t stop believing”! Introductions were made of the Russellville
Independent School District Board Members: James Milan, Davonna Page, Joe Sparks, and Phillip West. Unfortunately, Lovis Patterson was unable to
attend. RHS Principal, Ben Bruni, and
SES Principal, Robin Cornelius, both welcomed back staff and introduced newly
hired staff. The Russellville Marching
Band joined us for the event and performed the National Anthem, The Fight Song,
Louie Louie, and the Hey! song. At the
conclusion, teachers and staff were dismissed back to their individual schools
for further training and preparation for Open Houses to be held this same
evening from 5-7pm for RJSHS and 5-8pm for SES. Students will return to school Wednesday, Aug. 8!
