Ribbon Cutting/Open House at R21C, 11/20/18
On Tuesday, Nov. 20, before a nice-sized crowd,
the ribbon-cutting and Open House was held at the newly renovated Russellville
21st Century Center. Despite
the chilly weather conditions, Board Members and Superintendent, Bart Flener, were
close at hand for the actual ribbon cutting provided by Ms. Pandora Christian
with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
The RHS Choir shared several selections to begin the evening, and the
RHS Jazz Band entertained in the new RISE (Russellville Independent Senior
Experience) area. Ashley McGinnis and
her Culinary Students had baked cupcakes, prepared punch, and served the guests
that attended. Food Service Director,
Lisa Cox, had her Café Cart on display and shared details as she gave away bottles
of water. There was a showcase presented
with the 6th Graders referring to their terrific new area. Those students recognized were: Abryian Rodriguez, Camille Whitescarver,
Joseph Parrish, Michelle Xie, Santos Guerrero Johnson, Aiden Garrie, Carolina
Gwynette, Kayelynn Davenport, Noah Terry, Tori Holder, Alexzander Holdren,
Ellie Rogers, LaReesha Cawthorn, Octavius McKeage, Alicia Davis, Gage Rosser,
Maddison Kimbrough, Riley Hatfield, Andrae Woodard, Grayson Beard, Madicyn
Faith, Samson Hightower, Caleb Ragland, Jayce Sparks, Mattie Stratton, Samuel
Edge, Shirley Lin, and Deric Hardimon. Tours
and information was shared from our
STEAM Factory. The exciting evening
also brought about a time for a Public
Safety Forum with several participants having the opportunity to express their
opinions and concerns prior to the regularly monthly scheduled Board Meeting. Great things are happening at Russellville Independent
Schools, and if you have a chance, please feel free to stop by and see for yourself!
