RHS Governors Scholars, 4/16/19
Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program (GSP) is an attempt to keep "the brightest" high school seniors within the state of Russellville High School’s 2019 Kentucky Governor’s Scholars have been announced. Rising Seniors, Benjamin Slack and Brandy West, have been selected. Ben is the son of Bethanie Hargett-Slack, RHS English teacher, and Glenn Slack. Brandy West is the daughter of Billy and Sandy West. The Kentucky. It is a five-week
program over the summer for these students between their junior and senior
years of high school. Prospective
juniors must have high academic achievement, including standardized test
scores, and be active in their community. In addition, students must write an essay to
be accepted. The program itself consists
of various classes and other school activities. Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth
through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular
and residential life experience. Upon completing the program, the 1000
seniors that are selected yearly, are eligible to receive scholarships to any
in-state public university. These two Panthers were chosen from a group of 1,863 applicants from across the state, and we couldn’t be more proud of them for being selected for this honor! Congratulations!
