Mary Poppins Production a Huge Success at RJSHS

The annual spring musical this year was Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins, the Broadway Musical.” The play was based on the Mary Poppins books by Pamela L. Travers and the 1964, motion picture, Mary Poppins. “The play itself was a stage version of the Disney movie that everybody knows,” said RJSHS music teacher, Brian Brown. “It has been modernized and redone some, but all the songs that everybody knows from the original movie are still there and just like you’d remember them.” It had all the familiar music, and a few new songs, as well. Students in the cast, ensemble, or toys segment included Hannah Miller, Carson Kash, Johnny Drumgole, Raven Hale, Carly Speck, James Kline, Ma’Leigha Stovall, Danielle White, Noah Brown, Mark Wynn, Jada Morris, Drew Oberhausen, Sarah Brown, Ashley Gilbert, Hunter Moneypenny, Phillip Wilkerson, Dru West, John Essex, Kaylee Silvey, Emma McReynolds, Skyler Hale, Kaylee Silvey, Denise Stovall, Dilishia Thomas, Katie Paul, Lucy Wilkinson, Elly Meyers, Lauren Mullen, Rian Saul, Ben Slack, Hannah Alford, Maggie Cockerell, Anabel Cruz, Karlee Elrod, Cassidy Farwick, Emma Gwynette, Tosha Smotherman, and Chloe Whitescarver. Students and staff participating with production assistance, artwork, or props included Brandon Stearsman, Tera Ragland, Allison Blythe, Sarah Williams, Tristen Gentry, Luci Suiter, Troy Adams, C.J. Borden, Sam Cundiff, Madison Rose, Sydney Herndon, Chris Holloman, Rob Beasley, Eddie Brooks, and Mr. Brian Brown. The play was sponsored by the generous donations of Super Nails; Federal Grove Bed & Breakfast; Christi & David Farmer; Joyce’s Hairstyling & Tanning Salon; Blossom Shop; Summers, Kirby & Sanders; Lewisburg Banking Company; Poore’s Nursery & Farms; Freeland; Logan Telephone Cooperative; Agri Power Inc.; Security Seed; and Owen Transport Services LLC. The musical was a huge success! Lots of time and hard work was evident, and everyone is to be congratulated for a job well done!
