Weekly Update, March 2nd, 2015

Good Sunday evening to everyone!

RHS Archery

--Congratulations to the Blaine Holley (5th grader) and Brian Clinard (Senior) as both placed 6th overall in their divisions during the Lewisburg Archery Tournament this past weekend. Overall , the team placed 3rd in the high school division. Coach Jennifer Clark has informed us that the team will be traveling to the state tournament on March 11th with flight times at 9:00 Central time. We wish them the best of luck as they wrap up this year’s season!!

Three middle school students traveled this weekend to Clarksville to take part in the inaugural  Playmakers Basketball Academy TN/KY Middle School All-Star games Saturday afternoon at Clarksville High School.

8th Grade students who were invited to participate in these games are---Deshala LeBlanc, Elijah Kemp and Jacob Naylor. Jacob, son of Calvin and Tracy Naylor, was also awarded the first Edith L. Kidd Memorial Community Service Award for outstanding service to his community and in other countries, as well.

Two of our teachers, Tracy Naylor and Andrew Mclean, were also recognized during this event as being chosen as an outstanding teacher by one of the players selected for the all-star event. We are extremely proud of these students and teachers for representing our school during this event. We look forward to students participating in this event in the future.

13th District Tournament

Both Lady Panthers and Panthers basketball teams were in action this week during the district tournament held at Todd County. The Lady Panthers began district play by taking on the Lady Cougars. Even though they came up short in that game, we continue to be very pleased and proud of the progress this team has made this year. Coach Calvin Head, his staff and the players made great strides in making this team competitive and we can’t wait to see them back on the hardwood next season!!

The Panthers met Franklin-Simpson on Wednesday night and came away with a solid win in what was probably one of their best played games of the season. They advanced onto the district finals, which was round 3 of this year’s Clash of the Cats battles. Again, the Panthers played a great game and battled to the very second with a one point loss to LC occurring. The Panthers do advance on to regional play this week at Diddle Arena. We look forward to taking on the Monroe County Falcons next Friday night! Congratulations to Coach Todd and his staff for advancing onto regional play.

The following players were chosen to the all-district tournament teams:

Lady Panther

Panthers

·         Davonya Bryant (11th grade)

·         Loreal Cheaney (10th grade)

·         Pedro Bradshaw (10th grade)

·         Tacorian Darden (12th grade)

·         Lee McMurry (12th grade)

We also received notice this week that Pedro Bradshaw has been chose to the regional all seasonal 3rd time due to his seasonal work for the team. Congratulations to our of all Lady Panther and Panther team members!
