April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Our SES K-Kids not only presented Teddy Bears and soft throws to this worthy cause, they were able to participate in the Child Abuse Awareness Event again this year to bring awareness to Logan County regarding child abuse. On Monday, April 13, at 11:00am, they gathered at the Russellville Public Square and then enjoyed a short walk amongst a long line of people around Russellville City Square to the historic courthouse. Once at the historic courthouse they heard a proclamation reading by Commonwealth Attorney, Gayle Guiling, and encouraging words from Russellville City Mayor, Mark Stratton. Karen Taylor represented Judge Executive, Logan Chick. Many were dressed in blue and/or wore blue ribbons as a symbol that they care. Bookmarks were distributed stating: “Be a BLUE Ribbon Parent – Show your children that you love them. Really listen…with all your attention. Spend time with your children…talk to them, play with them, plan family events. Be a BLUE Ribbon Family – Spend time together. Respect one another. Create family traditions…to help everyone feel connected. Be a BLUE Ribbon Kid – Be kind. Solve problems with brainpower…not fists, hurtful words, or weapons. Help others…be a friend to someone in need. Make yours a BLUE Ribbon Community – Help parents you know. Learn how to prevent child abuse and neglect. Volunteer to help a child or family.” Carol Kees requested Missy Perry, FSOS, Logan County Protection & Permanency, share the Story behind the Blue Ribbon which is always a memorable occasion. Thanks once again to Carol Kees for her outstanding leadership with the K-Kids, and thanks to our local Department of Protection and Permanency for doing a great job taking care of our kids!  (See Photo Gallery) http://www.russellville.kyschools.us/PhotoGallery.aspx
