Good Sunday afternoon to everyone!
Our Russellville Panther Archery team competed this weekend at the regional tournament held at Logan Co. High School. Coach Jennifer Clark reports that our students had a great showing and came away with some big honors in different divisions and areas. First of all, there were 4 high school archers who all shot a perfect 50 while at the tournament. Congratulation to Seniors, Alex Cain, David Barber, Breann Thomas and Brian Clinard on this accomplishment!
Brian Clinard also placed 2nd overall in the region with a score of 284. 5th grade student, Brian Holley, placed 5th overall in the elementary division with a score of 262. Both of these students automatically advance to the state tournament in March.
The RHS team, as a whole, placed 3rd out of 8 teams in the regional tournament, which also qualifies the team for the state tournament (pending space availability). Most importantly, however, was the number of compliments that the team received from the coaches and other teams about not only their performances but how they handled themselves during the event. A huge thanks to the coaching staff, the team members and the many parent volunteers who have worked to make this a successful season for our archery team.
The RHS Academic Team will be back in action this week as they have been preparing for the Regional Governor’s Cup events since claiming the District Governor’s Cup title a few weeks ago. Best of luck to our team and Coach, Mrs. Jennifer Rogers, as the competition begins on Tuesday and will conclude with quick recall and written assessment events on Saturday. We feel confident that several of our students have the potential to be state contenders this year and look forward to results from next Saturday!
Just a reminder that we will not be in school on Feb. 13th and Feb. 16th. Both days are listed as closed days on the district calendar.
