RHS Student Achievement

Good afternoon everyone,

I want to take a few minutes to recognize some truly
outstanding students from our school.  As some of you know, our school was
accepted as part of the Advance Ky initiative last year which is designed to
help our students be better prepared for Advanced Placement classes and exams
for English, science and math.  As a result of student participation and
teacher training, we had more students enrolled in AP classes last year and we
had more students make passing scores overall on the exams.  One aspect of
Advance KY is to monetarily reward students for making passing scores.
This week, the students pictured below, received those reward checks from
Advance KY.  Each student is rewarded with $100 for each passing score
with some students receiving up to $200 each for their scores.  Overall,
the RHS students earned a combined total of $1,400 for their hard work and
scores but ultimately what they gained by participating in these AP classes
will be far more valuable to them than that.  I also want to commend the
other students who worked diligently throughout the year in other AP classes
and on these exams.  The benefits of taking more rigorous, challenging
classes will certainly help when these students begin their college
careers.

Congratulations to these students and their teachers for it
is truly a joint effort between the two to have this type of success.

Thank you,

Kim McDaniel
