SES "National Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Family", 9/26/16

SES "National Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Family", 9/26/16

The Stevenson Elementary Family Resource Center once again provided a delightful family event in celebration of "National Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Family" on Monday, September 26, 2016.  Informational flyers with reservation requests were sent home with students, and tickets were collected as they entered. This year's event offered a free sit-down dinner for over 350 students and their families in the SES cafeteria. Our families enjoyed a delicious dinner of ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, fruit salad, a roll, and cake for dessert prepared by SES Cafeteria manager, Mary Ann Morris, and her Staff. Families were served at two separate settings, 5:00pm and 5:45pm. National Family Day is based on research that consistently finds that the more often children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink, or use illegal drugs. This year's event was sponsored by the SES Family Resource Center Director, Carol Kees, Russellville Independent Schools, and Logan County Faith & Family Coalition. SES Principal, Lisa White, greeted the guests at the front entrance and stated the evening was another huge success! Superintendent, Leon Smith, enjoyed the time of sharing the evening and seeing this positive family event. Mrs. Ashley McGinnis and her Family and Consumer Ed Students, the Panther Caterers, and FCCLA students looked professional and worked tirelessly serving our families. Under the direction of Brandon Blake, the RJSHS Ambassadors greeted and assisted with seating the families. SES Teachers and Staff joined Family Resource Coordinator, Carol Kees, in the celebration. There were many positive compliments from the families regarding the food they enjoyed and the service they received. RIS is grateful for all staff who put in a long day to make this a special evening for parents and students to share together. Carol Kees expressed her thanks to all who helped and for ALL who participated in this Great Event!
