American Private Enterprise System Sophomore Field Trip, 3/28-29
On Tuesday and Wednesday, March 28-29, the top ten GPA Sophomore students from RJSHS participated in a two-day event sponsored by A.P.E.S. (American Private Enterprise System) with Gary Michael Templeton through the Logan County Extension Office. They had opportunity to visit Lost River Creamery, Logan Aluminum, and Pawley’s Studio. They listened to speakers, and took 6 tests. The student with the highest test score was granted a $250.00 scholarship to the college of their choice. This is funded by the University of Kentucky. This year the RJSHS recipient is Phillip Wilkerson! This summer, Phillip will be attending the Kentucky Youth Seminar at the UK campus where he could possibly be eligible to win up to $5,000.00 in scholarships. The following are the RJSHS students who participated in the field trip for the APES Program: Hunter Armistead, Gabrielle Bellamy, Austin Coursey, Ashlee Gilbert, Brandon Johns, Emma McReynolds, William Mullen, Dillon Porter, Fernanda Rodriguez, and Phillip Wilkerson. Debbie Browder, RJSHS Youth Services Coordinator, accompanied the students.
