SES hosts Chef Airis at the Extension Office, 04/28/16

Stevenson Elementary School and Russellville Urban Gardening hosted Chef Airis Johnson at the Logan County Extension Office on Thursday, 04/28/16.  The evening was one of demonstrations and tasting Chef Airis’ good food!  Chef Airis has been featured on Essence magazine and on TV.  She has worked in many genres in the food industry for numerous “greats” and currently works as a caterer, private chef, consultant, avid world traveler, and food blogger. In honor of Earth Day, Chef Airis visited Russellville and surrounding areas to educate our community about healthy, yet GOOD tasting food.  Much of the fresh produce and meats that she used to prepare her dishes came directly from the Russellville Urban Gardening Project community garden and local farmers, and Lost River Creamery provided their delicious cheeses.  Russellville Junior/Senior High School Culinary students assisted Chef Airis and provided suggested items for the menu.  This was a free rotation/open house event.  The SES Student Leader in Me Program began at 5:30, followed with the fun-filled stations for the 7 Habits of Leader in Me, promotions of the SES PTA, and finally the taste testing.
