Professional Development Days, 10/9 & 10/17

Per Russellville Independent School’s calendar, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9 & 10, were dates reserved as District-wide Data Retreat Days.  Monday’s Professional Development consisted of all certified staff joining together at the Logan County Cooperative Extension Office for the purpose of studying our district, school data, and answering the question, where are we now?  The day began at 8:30am with coffee, water, and iced-tea available throughout the day, lunch was provided, and the day ended by 3:30 pm.  During this day, teams from each school worked collaboratively through a structured process to identify data patterns and to pose hypothesis.  Guest speakers representing the United Way Campaign were Kim Reeves, Jeff Manley, and Stacie Lee.  Additionally, the day provided time for collectively and individually thinking insight-fully about information provided by current assessment/progress monitoring data and how the data should impact actions toward improving teaching and learning across the District.  On Tuesday, the 10th, each staff met in their respective schools to continue the process with a laser-like focus on non-academic data and then consider further individual school/classroom and student-level data in preparation for the development of school improvement plans.  Superintendent, Bart Flener, said, “When I think about our Panther Power words (Persistence, Opportunity, Worth, Excellence, and Resilience), I can honestly say I’m seeing them displayed on a regular basis here.  Monday and Tuesday were WORTH it to help analyze where our students are and how we can help them improve. I looked forward to seeing and working alongside our team on those two days”.
