Weekly Update, May 1st, 2017

Good Sunday afternoon to all!!

Last night, RHS hosted the Junior/Senior Spring Prom in the Jim Young Gymnasium.  Many thanks to the prom committee leaders, Mrs. Lauren Fynboe and Mrs. Ashley McGinnis, for creating a beautiful event for our students!! We also want to thank the many staff members who assisted in making a night to remember!! Students danced the night away thanks to the wonderful music provided by Mr. Robby Mclellan.  Ms. Jalonda Wells and Mr. Deshawn Mason were chosen by their classmates to be the 2017 Prom King and Queen.  Congratulations to both of those deserving students!

The 2nd Annual Panther Choice Awards is schedule for tomorrow night in the gym.  Each faculty member is asked to choose a student to be the recipient of his or her Panther Choice Award for this wonderful honor.  Teachers will present their recipients with the award while also sharing with the guests the reasons why each student deserves this honor.  Invitations for recipients and their families were mailed last week!! Congratulations to all of our Panther Choice Award recipients!

Any Sophomore or Junior who is interested in applying for the Panther College Academy for next year, please pick up an application in the front office!  Those are due Wednesday, May 3rd.

I received notification last week that RHS Sophomore, Katie Ray Holloman, has been chose to participate in a very prestigious program this summer on the gulf coast.  Katie Ray applied to Daulphin Island Sea Lab Marine Science Center program and received notification that she was accepted to spend four weeks this summer participating in numerous activities related to marine biology.  The program is an intense four week summer course that introduces students to the marine environment.  The program will also allow students the opportunity for in-class work, laboratory experiences and field studies on their sea vessels.  ONLY 30 students across the ENTIRE country are chosen for this program and we are so proud of Katie Ray for achieving this honor and furthering her work in this exciting field!! Katie Ray is the daughter of Kerry and Chris Holloman!  Congratulations, Katie Ray!!

The Russellville Archery team members would like to thank everyone who came out to their car wash this Saturday!! They appreciate the continued support of the program.
