Weekly Update, May 15th, 2017

Good Sunday evening to all!  I want to take the time to wish all of our “Panther Moms” a very Happy Mother’s Day!! I hope you have a great day and have been able to enjoy this beautiful weather with friends and family. 

 

 

The Russellville Track team traveled yesterday to Green County for the Regional Class 1A Track Meet and our Panther Track Stars did not disappoint.  We have several 1st and 2nd place finishers, along with several students who have now qualified for the state track meet in Lexington next Saturday morning.  Below are the final results from the regional track meet:

·         Both teams placed 3rd Overall

 

Girl’s 100 Meter Dash

·         Sariana Allen—1st place

·         Tatyana Peterson—2nd place

*Both have qualified for state.

Girl’s 200 Meter Dash

·         Sariana Allen—1st place

·         Tatyana Peterson—2nd place

*Both have qualified for state.

Girl’s 100 Meter Hurdles

·         Destiny Higgins—5th  place

Girl’s 300 Meter Hurdles

·         Destiny Higgins—6th place

 

Girl’s 4 X 100 Relay

·         Makayla Davis, Tatyana Peterson, Sariana Allen, and Anastasia Dowlen—2nd place

*Qualified for state

Girl’s 4 X 200 Relay

·         Makayla Davis, Tatyana Peterson, Sariana Allen, and Anastasia Dowlen—1st  place

*Qualified for state

Girl’s Long Jump

·         Jalonda Wells—4th place

*Qualified for state

Girl’s Triple Jump

·         Jalonda Wells—3rd place

*Qualified for state

·         Javaren Robey—2nd place

·         Javaren Robey—3rd place

Boy’s 110 Meter Hurdles

·         Deshawn Mason—1st place

*Qualified for state

Boy’s 300 Meter Hurdles

·         Mark Wynn—3rd place

Boy’s Long Jump

Boy’s Triple Jump

·         Johnny Drumgole—1st place

·         Deshawn Mason—2nd place

*Both qualified for state

Boy’s 4 X 100 Relay

·         MJ Jones, Shaun Cheaney, Javaren Robey and Paul Jones—4th Place

*Qualified for state

Boy’s 4 X 200 Relay

·         Jaylyn Mcmurry, Javaren Robey, Deshawn Mason and MJ Jones—1st place (This team broke the school record for the 4 X 200 set in 2007.)

*Qualified for state

Boy’s 4 X 400 Relay

·         Mark Wynn, Paul Jones, Shaun Cheaney, and Jaylyn Mcmurry—3rd place

*Qualified for state

Boy’s 4 X 800 Relay

·         Mark Wynn, Rob Skipworth, Luke Skipworth, and Tony Pacheco—4th place

 

Congratulations to our track team members and coaches, Dennis Sydnor, Paulette Smith and Mikie Benton!! We wish you the best of luck at state!!!

 

The Russellville Archery Team competed in the National Archery Tournament this past week in Louisville!! The team shot well enough to qualify for the World Archery Tournament in Orlando, FL this summer!! Congratulations to our Panther Archers!!! The team will be working for the next few months to fundraise to help support the cost of the trip!! Please help support our archery program when you have a chance!!

 

The RHS Drama Department wrapped this year’s musical, Annie, last night with another stellar performance.  Thanks to Mr. Brown, his staff and all of our students who have put countless hours into making this a great show!! Can’t wait for next year’s production---A Cub and His Warthog—hint, hint—Mr. Brown!!!

 

Senior Week Activities---we have several things planned to honor our Class of 2017 this week at RJSHS:

Monday/Tuesday---Seniors will be job-shadowing off campus.

Wednesday---Travel to Holiday World; leave RJSHS at 7:00AM and return no later than 6:00PM.

Thursday---Senior Walk—9:00-10:30---RJSHS and travel to SES

                        Senior Luncheon—11:00-1:00---Walnut Grove Baptist Church

§ Lunch

§ Senior Time Capsule—bring an item that can fit into a snack-sized ziplock bag, if you wish to contribute.

§ Bucket List Activity

§ Senior Video

§ Dismissal

Friday---Graduation Practice from 8:30-9:30---dismissal

Saturday---Graduation at 6:00PM in Jim Young Gymnasium

§ Students should begin arriving at 4:30 and report to cafeteria for individual cap and gown pictures.  We need every senior to do a cap and gown picture for this year’s composite picture.  Purchase will be optional.  A group photo will be done in the gym at 5:00.

·         Middle School Skatebox trip for EXCELLENT Behavior---there are 15 freshmen students who will be eligible for this reward for earning their Biology Blue Ribbons on Study Island…

Whew!! That was probably one of the most info-packed weekly updates yet!! It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve our students, families, staff/teachers and community members.  I wish for each of you a safe and productive final week of the 2016-2017 school year.
