SES Career Day, 5/16/17

Kathy's Hair Salon

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, Stevenson Elementary School hosted Career Day for their students.  Businesses participated by coming and sharing what they do, and some of the students (and teachers) learned first-hand their expertise.  Kathy’s hair salon, owner and operator, Ms. Kathy Edmonds, literally shared her talent as she gave Mr. Nick Willis, 2nd grade teacher, a haircut right before the students’ eyes!  Gayla Inscoe, from the Logan County Public Library, came and shared the benefits of having such a fine facility available for students to visit, read, and learn.  Some students were eager to let her know they had a “library card”.  The Hot Rods representative, Mr. Brock Wilson, was on hand to let the students know about summer baseball games, and he had printed schedules to give to the students.  Beth Frogue with the Russellville Area Technical Center, brought some of their high school students to demonstrate the many areas of training they provide for future careers such as carpentry, robotics, welding, etc.  Stevenson students thoroughly enjoyed these presenters.  Other businesses discussed were Logan Aluminum, Brown Animal Hospital, and the Russellville Fire Department.  We are grateful for how involved our community is with our Russellville Independent Schools.
