The Week Ahead at RJSHS 11/26 - 12/2

Coming off the Break

Hopefully it was a wonderful three days of extra time with family and friends as we close out the Thanksgiving Break. With three weeks left in the semester, there are lots of happenings still to come at RJSHS. Some dates to keep in mind:

Week of 12/4 – Star Benchmark Testing for all students in the areas of Reading and Math

12/4 – RMS Football Banquet, 5:30pm, School Cafeteria

12/9 – Middle School Winter Formal Dance

12/11 – RHS Football Banquet, 6pm, School Cafeteria

12/12 – Band Christmas Concert, 7pm, de Graffenried Auditorium

12/14 – Christmas Lunch with families. Invitations sent home this week.

Congratulations Mrs. Sara Jennings

Mrs. Jennings, who has been working as the Literacy Coach for the district and has worked closely with the High School, guiding and managing professional development, teacher professional practices, and learning communities, has been selected as the new interim Assistant Principal at Stevenson Elementary. Mrs. Jennings brings over a decade and a half’s worth of experience to her new position. She will officially start in a full time role at Stevenson at the beginning of the Spring Semester in January. Dr. Janet Hurt will take over her duties at the high school in assisting with the many roles that Mrs. Jennings filled.

Book Club Travels to BG to see Wonder the Movie

Mrs. Tina Shoemake started with a desire to get more of her 6th graders reading through the formation of a book club. What she ended up with was a massive movement that included 4th and 5th grade students from Stevenson all the way through the 8th grade. Through the Russellville Reads Grant under the supervision of District Supervisor of Instruction Dr. Steven Moats and working with District Instructional Coach Cassie Reding, each member of the book club was provided a personal copy of the book Wonder. Upon completion of the book, 60 SES and RJHS students traveled to BG where they were able to see the words come alive on the silver screen.
