Deep Dive Day Success!
It was Deep Dive Day for Seniors this past Friday at the new
Logan Career and Technical Center (LCTC) and it was a huge success! Seniors and
select Juniors worked with community members as well as representatives from
both Russellville and Logan Co. Schools. Students created presentations based
on current topics of interest and presented in group format. Students were
scored by their peers as well as by the coaches. The day was part of the
Russellville Ready initiative aimed at developing RISD student skills in areas
such as personal finance, communication, responsibility, and citizenship.
Profile of a Graduate Bring Together
RISD and LCS
Russellville Independent superintendent Bart Flener and Logan
Co. Schools superintendent Paul Mullins rolled out the concept of Profile of a
Graduate to over fifty business leaders and community leaders this past
Wednesday at LCTC. During the luncheon, community members from all aspects of
the Logan/Russellville community were able to speak on what is needed from
today’s high school graduates. The luncheon highlighted a need for the
development of “soft skills” such as punctuality, speaking skills, and
character. Both school systems are in the process of developing Profile of a
Graduate measures aimed at measuring students in a manner that extends beyond
the normal report card and diploma.
Keep Those Bottle Tops!
The RJSHS Family Resource Center needs your help! They are
asking that you please save your bottle caps from all Coke products and turn
them in to Mrs. Debbie Browder at RHS. These will go a long way in helping with
what appear to be deep budget cuts to the FRYSC by the most recently proposed
state budget. Tops may be dropped off at the front office.
New College Coach Cassady Wilson
Making an Immediate Impact
New College Coach Cassady Wilson has got seniors meeting with
lots of folks in the brief time since she started at RHS. Already, SKY CTC,
WKU, and several others have sent reps to the building to meet with seniors.
